Mission
Children’s diets are negatively impacted by factors such as the rising cost of living, overconsumption of ultra-processed, high-fat, high-sugar, high-salt (UPF, HFSS) foods, food allergies, lack of time for cooking, marketing influences, food inequality, and deprivation. Why is this a problem? If current trends continue, more than 80% of children born in 2022 who survive to the age of 65 will be overweight or obese. Isn’t that shocking? Our health systems are unlikely to withstand the NCD (Non-Communicable Diseases) risks arising from poor diets and will struggle to cope.

Role Overview/What will you do:
The role is hands on - includes both technical implementation and leadership.
Manage, mentor and inspire a small but high-quality team of platform and infrastructure engineers to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions) as well as ensure team adheres to best practices and process
Develop vision for team around roles and responsibilities, and structure team to ensure greatest impact, efficient use of resource, and alignment to business goals
Support efforts for building an exceptionally talented multidisciplinary technical team.
Ensure compliance with responsible AI principles and stay informed on legislative developments.
Oversee budget and project management responsibilities.
Deliver product features and bug fixes on time.
Demonstrate resourcefulness, leverage industry connections, and display an entrepreneurial mindset.
Prepare and present regular team/project reviews to senior management and business leaders
Drive the design and development of system architecture, taking into account analytics and user research and enhance the quality of deliverables
Contribute to defining and implementing best practices and processes and ensure transparency and consistency across teams
Key Skills And Experience
You are an expert Python engineer with over 8 years of professional experience and proficient in at least one more modern language, hopefully many.
Previous experience working in high growth startups B2C and/or B2B or tech innovation.
Hands-on experience with newest genAI APIs, models, techniques such as RAG, prompt engineering, evaluations, agents and training.
Have a track record of AI and ML knowledge from theory to practice that is evidenced in your github, Hugging Face or equivalent repos.
You are an innovator with a creative spirit and you have work or out-of-work examples of it.
Highly credible hands-on engineer, confident to deep dive into a product and codebase and offer detailed, constructive analysis and feedback
Exceptional communicator who loves collaborating with people, confident in communicating complex concepts and getting the message across in a simple manner even to non technical audiences.
Awareness of industry trends and leveraging new technologies as appropriate
Experience in collaborating and influencing cross-functional teams
Exhibit professional familiarity with technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, GCP, Firebase, SQL, Vectorstores, Langchain, Langgraph or equivalent.
Proven ability to work in agile way and quickly prototype and deploy solutions.
Competitive salary based on experience, accompanied by an equity package. We are open to the possibility of integration into the founding team. The role is expected to be 0.5 - 1.0 FTE and will be based in the Oxford area. While a hybrid working arrangement is preferred, there is flexibility for remote work.
